Iced Eggnog Cookies

These soft cookies are slightly sweet. The glaze adds the perfect amount of eggnog flavor and a touch of sweetness.

For The Cookies

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup eggnog

For the Glaze

1 cup powdered sugar

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

2 tablespoons eggnog

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

Sprinkles to decorate if desired

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, nutmeg, baking powder, and salt. Set aside. Using a stand mixer or by hand, cream together butter and sugar until creamy. Add egg and mix until combined. Add vanilla and mix until combined. Add flour and eggnog alternately, beginning and ending with flour until dough forms.

Using spoon or cookie scoop, scoop dough into balls and place on cookie sheet. Bake 9-11 minutes until slightly golden on edges and bottoms. Cool completely.

Whisk together all of the glaze ingredients until combined. Add more eggnog to reach desired consistency. Drizzle over cookies. Sprinkle with sugar or sprinkles if desired. Allow glaze to harden. Store in container.

Enjoy!
